Dr. Sean Fettrow

Sean is the lab head and Primary Investigator of the Fettrow Global Change Biogeochemistry lab. He received his PhD from University of Delaware in 2023. His dissertation focused on biogeochemical cycling in coastal ecosystems under sea level rise. He then worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a postdoc, studying permafrost thaw in the Arctic. He then began an NSF fellowship from 2024-2026, focusing on effects to forest carbon cycling following wildfire. He plans to take his broad training in plant-soil chemistry and biogeochemistry and continue to apply it towards understanding how Earth's ecosystems are being altered with global change, while also contributing to training the next generation of environmental leaders.
